Oriental inspired garden in Tain

Geo Designs were asked by our clients to design and build a new front garden in Tain, Ross-shire with an “Oriental Theme”.  It was important to keep maintenance down to a minimum by creating an outdoor space that was both visually appealing and functional. The garden incorporates a sense of journey, through rocky outcrops and drifts of ornamental grasses.  Japanese Acers, ornamental cherries and azaleas have been included for spring and autumn colour whilst a native flowering hedge has been planted for wildlife and additional privacy.  A “Torii”gate symbolises an area of spiritual transition to a stone broch and bench to take advantage of the beautiful views.  A  water feature comprising a granite stone quern with a traditional Japanese style bamboo water spout “Kakei” provides a peaceful, calming environment.  Black limestone paving and setts is used for the hard surfacing and sandstone for the retaining walls.  Looking forward to seeing the garden mature to complete the vision.
