Garden Consultations

Garden Consultations in the Scottish Highlands

Not every garden project needs a full design commission. Sometimes what you really need is an experienced eye, a couple of hours, and an honest conversation about what your garden could be.

That’s exactly what a Geo Designs garden consultation offers. I visit your garden, we walk around it together, and I give you my honest assessment – what’s working, what isn’t, where the opportunities lie, and how I’d approach the changes you’re considering. It’s practical, straightforward and genuinely useful, whether you’re planning a major project or simply trying to make better sense of a space that’s never quite come together.

What a consultation covers

Every consultation is tailored to what you need. It might focus on a planting problem – the wrong plants in the wrong places, a border that never performs, a site that defeats everything you put in it. It might be about structure and layout – how to create a sense of flow, where to place a terrace, how to screen an eyesore or frame a view. Or it might simply be that you have a blank canvas and don’t know where to start.

After the visit I’ll provide a written report summarising everything we discussed – the opportunities identified, the suggestions made, and any specific planting or design recommendations. You’ll leave with a clear, actionable picture of what to do next.

A consultation as a gift

A garden consultation makes a genuinely thoughtful gift for someone who loves their garden but isn’t sure how to take it to the next level. Whether it’s for a birthday, anniversary, or a special occasion, it’s a present that has a lasting and visible effect – and one that very few people would think to give.

Consultation fees

Garden consultations are charged at £60 per hour plus travel and mileage expenses. Should a consultation develop into a full garden design commission, the consultation fee is offset against the design cost. Some conditions apply for projects outwith the Highlands that involve ferries, flights or overnight accommodation.

Appointments are subject to seasonal availability. Get in touch to arrange a consultation or to find out more.
